Join your friends and colleagues at this premier conference for early childhood and afterschool professionals, as we examine Becoming Our Best Self.

Working in the fields of early childhood and afterschool is critically important work, but it can be demanding and often unseen in the eyes of the broader community. To be the best educators for the children in our programs and to be a strong voice for our professions, we need to be our best selves, and that starts with each of us.

Self-care is everywhere these days, and often connected to purchasing something to make you happier or less stressed. We aim to re-frame the conversation and talk about ways to build a life we’re not regularly escaping from. This will look different for everyone, but by being open to learning more about yourself and with a willingness to share your stories with others, we can become our best selves.

Our annual state conference is your annual opportunity to connect, lead and engage alongside colleagues from many sectors of early childhood and afterschool work in Minnesota. This year we have an excellent selection of workshops to choose from that reflect our dedication to supporting professionals and enhancing the quality of programs for children, youth, and their families.

On Friday, we welcome Kelly Holstine, 2018 Minnesota State Teacher of the Year. Her keynote will highlight the importance of owning flaws and prioritizing one’s own mental health in order to make more authentic connections with others. Ms. Holstine will reveal the roles that vulnerability and courageous connections have in creating equity for every heart.

On Saturday we welcome Karla Heeter, Executive Director for Buffalo Hospital Foundation, part of Allina Health. Her keynote will give you the tools to find and/or maintain your happiness and enhance your resilience. You can expect to be moved, inspired, humored and entertained.

In addition to these powerful keynote sessions, we’ve filled each day with more than 60 timely, educational, and thought-provoking workshops designed just for you.

We’ve listened to your feedback for more networking opportunities and back this year are Table Talk Sessions, where you can engage informally with your fellow colleagues on a topic of interest. We’ve also added Poster Sessions, so you can learn from your fellow colleagues who have done interesting work in the field.

You are guaranteed to leave with a number of new ideas you can implement in your program immediately, plus an expanded circle of peers and insights to help you grow professionally now and into the future.

We look forward to seeing each of you at the RiverCentre!
