What is the timeline for submitting and selecting presentations?

We will accept presentation proposals until Monday, August 31st.  Accepted presenters will be notified in September.


Who can submit a proposal?

Everyone is encouraged to submit a proposal. Submissions are open to the public, regardless of membership status or previous roles within the community. In particular, individuals and organizations that have not presented previously at a MnAEYC-MnSACA event and those from underrepresented communities and perspectives are encouraged to participate.


Who attends the MnAEYC-MnSACA Annual State Conference?

The MnAEYC-MnSACA Annual State Conference is unique in the country. We bring together professionals in both the fields of early childhood and afterschool. We see value in creating space for professionals from two different fields, but serving the same children, to come together to ensure a continuum of care and education that benefits the children and families we serve. With this event being virtual this year, we are eager to reach a larger audience of early childhood and afterschool professionals.

  • Early childhood participants are those working primarily in child care centers, Head Start, and school district early learning programs.
  • Afterschool participants are those working primarily in before/afterschool and summer programs in school districts.


Besides the bragging rights of presenting at the Minnesota’s largest gathering of early childhood and school-age professionals – why should I apply to present or facilitate?

Where can I find additional information on the knowledge and competencies?

What do the "intended audience experience levels" mean?

  New to the Field:

  • Participants possess the knowledge and skills expected of someone with limited experience in the field.

   Intermediate in the Field:

  • Participants are practitioners who can apply knowledge and information

   Experienced in the Field:

  • Participants are seasoned practitioners who can apply knowledge and information in increasingly nuanced ways.

What is a Workshop Session?

Workshop sessions are available in 1-hour 1 1/2-hours or 2-hour time slots and can be offered in a variety of formats:

   Expert Lecture:

  • Minimal interaction with participants with Q&A at the end of the presentation


  • Presentation with interaction with participants throughout


  • Panelists examine a topic, followed by Q&A


What is a Table Talk?

Table Talks are an option to facilitate a discussion on a topic or issue of importance to you and others in the field. Facilitators will help guide discussion and encourage the sharing of new ideas around a chosen topic. They should also be able to answer questions regarding the topic of discussion. This is meant to be an informal conversation. Formal presentations and prepared PowerPoints are not expected, nor recommended.


Can I attend the rest of the conference?

Presenters are not required to register for the conference if they do not plan on participating beyond their scheduled presentation. If a presenter wishes to attend other sessions at the conference, participate in the keynote session(s), they must register as an attendee and either choose the complimentary registration or if choosing the honorarium, pay the applicable registration fee. Presenters will receive complimentary registration for the day they are presenting only.
