Last Chance to Apply for Board of Directors

We are currently accepting applications for individuals to serve on the MnAEYC-MnSACA Board of Directors.

Applications are open until this Friday, March 30 at 5:00 p.m.

As a membership association, the MnAEYC-MnSACA Board of Directors helps to govern the organizations and achieve the work guided by our mission. Members from Greater Minnesota, student members, and people who represent diverse languages/cultures are especially encouraged to apply.

MnAEYC-MnSACA board service is a way to contribute to the field, develop your governance expertise, expand your own professional network, and help influence what policy positions to take on critical issues facing the sector.

There are 4 open afterschool positions. These 4 newly-elected afterschool board members will join the 7 early childhood and 3 afterschool board members that are already serving. Three-year terms for the newly-elected board members will start in June 2018.

Please read the Board Position Description for more information about expectations and visit our website for more information about required meetings dates, the voting process and the application.

Help Us Recognize an Exceptional Early Childhood Educator

Do you know an individual working in an early childhood program who demonstrates excellence in his or her profession? We would love to honor them with the 2018 Kate Davidson Tanner Award.

Nominations are due this Friday, March 30.

Kate Davidson Tanner was an early childhood educator who was committed to making a difference in the lives of children. Her family and friends have created an award to recognize her strong commitment to the children in our state.

This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize someone who you work with or know who has made a positive difference in the lives of young children. The individual will receive a plaque, a small stipend in recognition of his/her achievement, and a celebration in his/her honor.

Please take a moment and nominate someone for this award. This is a great way to spotlight our profession, our organization, and the work happening in our field. We couldn't do this without you!

Please visit our website for nomination criteria and a nomination form.

Mingle with MnAEYC-MnSACA

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the very first Mingle with MnAEYC-MnSACA event after our Annual State Conference this month. It was great to meet new people, enjoy some pizza, and chat about what we learned at the conference, and about topics having nothing to do with work!

Did you miss this event? Don't worry - another one is coming up!

What: Join us at our next Mingle with MnAEYC-MnSACA, and play arcade games alongside your fellow early childhood and school-age care professionals.

You'll also have the opportunity to engage in conversation about what's happening in the field, find support from others, and learn how you can engage more with MnAEYC-MnSACA.

Date: Thursday, April 12, 2018

Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m. (come and go as you are able!)

Location: Up-Down Minneapolis, 3012 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55408

Who: Everyone is welcome to attend!

Hosted By: Kylie Cooper, President-Elect of the MnAEYC-MnSACA Board of Directors, Shannon Lund, Past-President of the MnAEYC-MnSACA Board of Directors, & Hannah Riddle de Rojas, NAEYC Young Professionals Advisory Committee (YPAC) member.

Congratulations to the 2018 Annual State Conference Award Winners

Our 2018 Annual State Conference was a great success! One of the highlights was our award ceremony in which we were proud to recognize important contributions to the fields of early childhood and school-age care.

  • Mike Huber is the 2018 MnAEYC Evelyn House Award recipient.
  • Jeremiah Program is the 2018 MnAEYC Distinguished Service Award recipient.
  • PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center is the 2018 MnSACA Award of Excellence recipient.
  • Yvonne Schneider is the 2018 MnSACA Distinguished Member Award recipient.

We are proud to announce that the MnSACA Distinguished Member Award will now be known as the Yvonne Schneider Distinguished Member Award in honor of Yvonne, who exemplified what it means to be a committed and engaged afterschool professional.

Each recipient has made a significant difference in the lives of children, youth and families in Minnesota. We thank the recipients for their dedication and commitment.

You can read more about each award and each recipient on our website here and here.
