Thank you to all of the MnAEYC and MnSACA members who voted in the Board of Directors election.

Announcing 2017 Kate Davidson Tanner Recipient

During the month of April, MnAEYC presents the Kate Davidson Tanner award to an early childhood professional making a difference in the lives of children. Kate Tanner dedicated her life to children and MnAEYC is honored to present this award, in partnership with her family, to a deserving early childhood educator every year.

We’re happy to announce that Ross Thompson is the 2017 Kate Davidson Tanner award recipient. Ross is a Teaching Specialist at the Shirley G. Moore Lab School at the University of Minnesota.

One reference said, “In his role as a classroom teacher he strives to make learning not only fun, but truly connected to what matters most to the children in his care. Ross is creative himself and shares his gift with children by inspiring them to try new things and generate new ideas. He has endless energy to help support a child in pursuing their own curiosities, or in seeking solutions to problems they encounter in their play.”

Visit our Facebook page and congratulate Ross on this wonderful accomplishment.

Save the Date: Summer Leadership Institute

Our Institute is designed specifically for current and aspiring leaders in the early childhood and afterschool professions. This is an opportunity for personal and professional renewal and growth, where you will identify strategies to increase your effectiveness, articulate changes needed to enhance focus, commitment, energy, and satisfaction, and learn from your colleagues in the field.

We’re excited to announce Tracy Wiese will be the keynote speaker. Tracy will talk about how to live authentically in a complex world. We are bombarded “in the real world” by messages of who we should (and shouldn’t) be, and what we should (and shouldn’t) do. This fun and interactive session, will help you put words to your own authenticity, and give you ideas on what to do with your True You! There will also be a number of break-out sessions full of inspiring content to bring back to your program.
