Minnesota Afterschool Accreditation Program

MAAP Validator Position Summary

MAAP Validators perform validation visits of school-age programs pursuing accreditation. During the visit, Validators represent MnSACA in a professional manner by observing and rating the program's practices against MAAP standards and indicators of quality. To be fully certified, individuals must attend a mandatory two-day training and complete a Validator-in-Training program. Certified Validators will be compensated via a $300 stipend after a validation visit is complete.

Validator-in-Training

After attending the mandatory two-day training, individuals are considered Validators-in-Training. To become fully certified as a MAAP Validator, Validators-in-Training must successfully shadow a currently certified Validator during an accreditation visit. The certified Validator will evaluate the experience and either recommend the Validator-in-Training to be certified or to continue improvement in validation skills. The decision to grant certification is at the discretion of MnSACA staff.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend a mandatory two-day MAAP Validators Training on September 26 & 28, 2017. This training is at no cost to participants. MnSACA will not compensate participants for attending. Lunch is included.
  • Complete the Validator-in-Training program prior to becoming a certified Validator.
  • Maintain a professional disposition at all times that is consistent with policies, procedures, expectations, and values of MAAP and MnSACA.

  • Observe and rate a program's practices against MAAP standards and indicators of quality.
  • Review program documentation and materials.
  • Observe the program for a minimum of two hours (or the duration of the program component).
  • Interview the site director to learn more about quality indicators that may not have been clearly observable, those that are positively met, and those that need improvement.
  • Facilitate a meeting of program stakeholders to obtain additional evidence of program quality.
  • Verify that all procedures have been followed and submit necessary documentation to MnSACA within the required timeline.
  • Be available via phone following the visit when the documentation is being reviewed.
  • Maintain confidentiality with any program information that is shared.
