Afterschool Best Practice: What Does it Look Like & How Do I Begin?

Do you ever wonder:

  • What policies and procedures make a quality program?
  • How can our program ensure the safety and wellness of youth?
  • What do effective relationships among staff, youth, families and the community look like?
  • Are we implementing the best activities and creating an environment that truly build all areas of a youth's development?

If you are looking to get down to the nitty-gritty, day-to-day operations of what makes an afterschool program a high-quality one, our MAAP Foundations trainings are for you.

The Minnesota Afterschool Accreditation Program (MAAP) is a state-approved accreditation, developed by MnSACA to promote the highest level of quality programming for school-age and afterschool care. Whether you are currently going through the accreditation process, are considering it in the future, or are looking to learn from and share with fellow professionals in the field, this series of trainings is a great way to dip your toe in the water.

There are many ways to push the caliber of your program up several notches by making quality improvements in all areas of programming. These trainings will focus on five areas of programming: Administration, Wellness, Activities, Relationships and Environment, diving into each area with specific, researched-based best practices. Leave with multiple strategies and ideas for implementation.

Registration is now open! Sign-up for the entire series (4 trainings), or whichever individual trainings best suit your needs. Stay tuned for a second series of MAAP Foundations trainings coming in the spring of 2018.
